A Timmins club that has been closed for months received a boost this week.

The Timmins branch of Fung Loy Kok Taoist Tai Chi operates out of the Golden Beaver Masonic Hall, however the group hasn't been able to offer classes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"With no income the Tai Chi Society has maintained their payments of rent to Golden Beaver Masonic Building Corporation. Premier Doug Ford asked landlords to have a heart, and give their tenants a break," said the masonic lodge in a release.

"As a result, and having the means to do so, the members of Golden Beaver Lodge felt that we should give our tenants a break."

Lodge members have donated $4,000 to the Taoist Tai Chi group.

The money was raised by the lodge's participation at Jackpot City Timmins.
