A second COVID-19 case has been confirmed in Fort Albany.

In a news release, Fort Albany First Nation said it was notified of the case last night (Jan. 7) and "the process of evaluating information, such as potential people in contact with this case, is under investigation and ongoing according to provincial guidelines."

The first case of the virus was reported in the community Jan. 2.

The lockdown in the community on the James Bay coast has been extended for 14 days, effective Jan. 7 at 9 p.m.
