Project Love grateful for 'spontaneous' donation

The donation will help local families in need

Project Love has received a "spontaneous" donation from Collège Boréal's humanitarian project.

The donation of about 150 children’s toothbrushes and 150 to 200 tubes of toothpaste will go to Timmins families in need.

“This is a very spontaneous thing and we were grateful,” said Project Love’s committee chair Lynda Geddes. “It will reach the families that need it and we’re very grateful for them (Collège Boréal) for thinking of us.”

Since the college's annual humanitarian trip to Guatemala was suspended because of COVID-19, the group didn't want to waste any supplies and decided to make a donation to Project Love instead, said Michel Mainville, a professor at Collège Boréal and the humanitarian project co-ordinator.

"We went through all of our supplies and all of our donations and the stuff that had an expiry day ... we wanted to do a donation," he said. "So we reached out to Project Love and they said, 'Yes, absolutely'. They're going to be more than happy to redistribute our toothbrushes and our toothpaste."
