The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting no new confirmed COVID-19 cases for the second-straight day. There are also three new resolved cases today.

There have been 60 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 46 cases are resolved, which is an increase of three from the last report, and four people have died. That means there are currently 10 active cases the health unit is monitoring.

The health unit is aware of 2,141 tests being done in the region, which is an increase of 86 from the last report. There are currently 648 tests under investigation.

With May Run coming up, the health unit is noting that in a regular year people would start to plan for fishing, hunting and camping.

"This is not a normal year and these activities are not considered essential outings. Stay home as much as possible and avoid non-essential travel," reads a PHU news release.

"We all need to do our part to protect ourselves, our loved ones and our communities from COVID-19. Leaving the community for recreational activities puts others at risk by stocking up on groceries, cleaning supplies and gas, stops in other communities for essential items and increased risk of injury requiring emergency services putting a strain on emergency and hospital services."

There are COVID-19 Assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst and Hornepayne. They are by appointment only and you must be referred by your primary healthcare provider or the health unit.

The PHU COVID-19 hotline is open weekends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It can be reached at 705-267-1181 or 1-800-461-1818.

The health unit is doing expanded testing on people with milder symptoms for a limited time.

The expanded list of symptoms includes cough, fever, and difficulty breathing as well as sore throat/hoarse voice, difficulty swallowing, loss of smell or taste, fatigue, muscle aches, runny nose, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and nausea or vomiting.
