The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting no new COVID-19 cases or recoveries today.

It's now been a week since the last positive test for the virus was confirmed in the region.

There have been 65 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic. Of those, 53 are resolved and six people have died. The health unit is following six known active cases.

The health unit is aware of 4,287 tests being done in the region, which is an increase of 13 from the last report. There are 247 tests under investigation.

"More people are using cloth masks to help protect themselves and others, but cloth masks should not replace physical distancing. Wear your mask correctly: cover your mouth and nose with the mask, making sure there are no gaps between your face and your mask. Avoid touching your face when wearing your mask and make sure your hands are clean when putting it on and taking it off," reads today's update from the health unit.

"Continue to stay home as much as possible, send only one member per family to run errands when possible, wash hands frequently and maintain a physical distance of 2 metres when in stores. If you are not well, stay home."

There are COVID-19 Assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst and Hornepayne. They are by appointment only and you must be referred by your primary healthcare provider or the health unit.

The PHU COVID-19 hotline is open today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It can be reached at 705-267-1181 or 1-800-461-1818.

The health unit is doing expanded testing on people with milder symptoms for a limited time.

The expanded list of symptoms includes cough, fever, and difficulty breathing as well as sore throat/hoarse voice, difficulty swallowing, loss of smell or taste, fatigue, muscle aches, runny nose, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and nausea or vomiting.
