For the 17th-straight day there are no new positive tests for COVID-19 in the area.

The Porcupine Health Unit is not reporting any new recoveries either.

To date, there have been 65 confirmed cases of the virus. Of those, 56 are resolved and seven people have died. The health unit is following two known active cases of the virus. Both of those are listed as being in hospital.

The health unit is aware of 4,886 tests done locally, which is an increase of 69 from the last report. There are 177 tests under investigation.

COVID-19 testing is opening up to anyone who wants to be tested.

There are COVID-19 Assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst and Hornepayne.

To be tested locally, people are still being asked to call their primary health care provider or the health unit first to be referred to the appropriate testing centre.

People won't be denied testing, but will still be asked questions about symptoms and referred to the appropriate centre.

The PHU COVID-19 hotline is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It can be reached at 705-267-1181 or 1-800-461-1818.
