New COVID cases confirmed in Timiskaming Health Unit region

Two new COVID-19 cases have been reported by the Timiskaming Health Unit. 

The health unit reported the cases Dec. 6. There is one person in the northern part of the health unit's region and one in the central part. Both are self-isolating.

"The two cases are unrelated. Both individuals are currently isolating and the cases are presently under investigation. Contact tracing is underway and those who have been identified as close contacts have been, or are in the process of being notified," reads the bulletin.

Over the weekend, three new cases of the virus were reported in the Timiskaming District. One person is in hospital.

To date, there have 21 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the district. Of those, 18 are resolved. There are there known active cases. 

In the Timiskaming region, there are assessment centres in the areas of Temiskaming Shores, Englehart, Kirkland Lake, and Temagami. Testing is by appointment only.
