New COVID-19 cases in Kirkland Lake area, including two people in hospital

The Timiskaming Health Unit is reporting three new COVID-19 cases in its region today.

All of the cases are in the northern part of the district, which is the Kirkland Lake area. According to the health unit, one person is self-isolating and two people are in hospital. The cases are under investigation.

"Contact tracing is underway and those who have been identified as close contacts have been, or are in the process of being notified," reads the health unit bulletin. 

There have now been a total to 64 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in the Timiskaming Health Unit district. There are 26 known active cases. According to the health unit's website, five people are currently in hospital.

So far this month, 45 cases have been reported in the health unit's region.
