New COVID-19 case confirmed in Hearst area

A new COVID-19 case has been confirmed in the Hearst, Hornepayne area.

The cause of the case is under investigation and the person is in self-isolation, according to the Porcupine Health Unit.

To date, there have been 303 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, at least 251 are recovered and 24 people have died. While the health unit reports new cases on weekends, the table with the number of active cases is not updated.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne.
