With a provincial lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19 days away, here's how it will affect the City of Timmins services.

The shutdown is effective Dec. 26 and lasts for at least two weeks in Northern Ontario.

City Hall will be closed to the public. According to the city, regular services will be offered through Service Timmins, which can be reached at 705-264-1331.

Indoor cultural and recreational facilities will be closed. This includes the arenas, Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre, Sportsplex pool, and community centres.

Outdoor activities such as the ice rinks and skating path will be available for use. The city reminds people to maintain two-metre physical distancing while using the ice rinks.

Other services that will continue to operate are Public Works activities such as snow plowing and removal, waste management (including access to the Deloro landfill site), Timmins Police, Timmins Fire Department and Timmins Transit.

At the Timmins Public Library will offer curbside and contactless services and online services.

"We would like to thank all citizens who have been working hard to reduce the spread of  COVID-19 in our community, and remind everyone to continue being kind to one another through these challenging and uncertain times. Together we will get through this," reads the news release.
