Health unit reports new COVID-19 case

The health unit says the individual's in self-isolation outside the region

The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting one new COVID-19 case.

According to the health unit, the individual was tested Sept. 14. They are in self-isolation outside the region.

"There are no risks of exposure to the community. Following provincial protocol, cases are reported and and attributed to the health unit they reside in permanently," reads the news release.

This is the 83rd confirmed case for the health unit. Of the positive tests, 69 people have recovered and nine people have died. There are five known active cases of the viurs.

The health unit is aware of 23,380 tests being done in the region. That is an increase of 196 from yesterday's report.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne.
