COVID-19: Here's the situation in Timmins today

Two cases reported, an outbreak declared today

The Porcupine Health Unit reported two new COVID-19 cases and a workplace outbreak today.

The new cases are in the Hearst, Hornepayne area. The outbreak is at Innes Transport in Moosonee where two employees are confirmed cases that are linked to the workplace.

Since Monday, 14 new cases have been confirmed in the region. They have been in Moosonee and Moose Factory, and the Hearst, Hornepayne area.

To date, there have been 338 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 285 are recovered and 25 people have died. There are 28 known active cases — one in the Kapuskasing area, two in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Flls, eight in the Hearst, Hornepayne area, and 17 in Moosonee and Moose Factory.

Public Health Ontario reported 1,258 new cases of COVID-19 today. In Ontario, there have been 298,569 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, that includes 281,331 recoveries and 6,944 deaths, of which 3,864 were individuals living in long-term care homes.
