COVID-19: Here's the situation in Timmins today

It's been three weeks since the last COVID-19 case was confirmed in the Porcupine Health Unit region.

To date there have been 72 confirmed cases in the area. Of those, 64 are recovered and eight people have died. There are no known active cases. 

Locally, the health unit is aware of 15,743 tests being done, which is an increase of 100 from the last report Friday.

In the past week, the 865 tests were done. That's a slight drop from the week prior when 952 tests were done.

Public Health Ontario reported 105 new cases today. To-date, the province has confirmed 41,507 cases of COVID-19 through lab testing. Of those, 37,673 (90.8 per cent) are recovered and 2,798 cases (6.7 per cent) have ended in death. There are three known active cases in Northern Ontario.

COVID-19 testing is open to anyone who feels they need to be tested, even if you don't have symptoms. To access testing, call your health care provider or the health unit.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst and Hornepayne.
