COVID-19: Here's the situation in Timmins today

One recovery, no new cases reported today

There are no new COVID-19 cases and one recovery in the Porcupine Health Unit area today.

To date, there have been 69 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 60 are recovered and eight people have died. There is one known active case.

The new recovery is a man in his 20s for the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls, and Smooth Rock Falls. 

The heath unit is aware of 10,431 tests being done, which is an increase of 237 from the last report Friday.

In the past week, 749 tests were done. That's a drop from the week prior when 1,511 were done.

New COVID-19 cases in the province are down slightly today compared to weekend totals, with Public Health Ontario reporting 135 new cases. Of the 37,739 total COVID-19 cases reported by Public Health Ontario, 33,513 – or 88.8 per cent – are reported recovered, and 2,752 people have died (7.3 per cent).  There are three known active cases in Northeastern Ontario.

COVID-19 testing is open to anyone who feels they need to be tested, even if you don't have symptoms. To access testing, call your health care provider or the health unit.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst and Hornepayne.
