NEWS RELEASE

With guidelines from the Ontario Waste Management Association, the City of Timmins is advising citizens to practice safe waste disposal to help protect collectors and the public from the risk of spreading COVID-19.

As a precaution, we are asking citizens to follow these guidelines:

  • Place used tissues and napkins in a waste bag before placing in your waste cart. Wash your hands afterward.
  • Bag all waste. Do not place waste loosely in waste containers.
  • If you are sick: place ANY item that has come into contact with your mouth, nose or eyes into a waste bag before placing it in your waste cart. This includes items deemed recyclable (e.g. Water/beverage bottles, pop cans, milk/juice cartons, etc.)
  • Loose items placed in your waste cart often become wind-blown as bins are being emptied, which is why it is important to bag all waste. Recyclable items should be placed loosely in your cart, and should not contain any soiled items.
