$19K drugs seized in Constance Lake, man charged with trafficking

CONSTANCE LAKE - A man is facing trafficking charges after a drug bust near Hearst. 

Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) executed a search warrant at a Constance Lake First Nation residence yesterday (April 16) just before 8 p.m.

Suspected methamphetamine, hydromorphone (opioids), oxycodone (opiods), lorazepam, cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia. The estimated value of the seizure is $19,000.

A 37-year-old man from Constance Lake First Nation was arrested without incident. He is charged with:

  • 2 counts of possession of methamphetamines for the purpose of trafficking 
  • 2 counts of possession of opioids for the purpose of trafficking 
  • Possession of lorazepam for the purpose of trafficking 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused has been released from custody with condition and is scheduled for a future court date. The name of the accused hasn't been shared because the charges haven't been formally sworn in before the court.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
