Woman facing charges after mid-afternoon dispute

Police say she made "threatening gestures" with a weapon towards a guest

The Timmins Police Service has investigated a mid-afternoon disturbance that occurred yesterday (Feb. 7) at a Way Street apartment.

The Timmins Police Service responded to an occurrence where a female entered into a dispute with the 64-year-old male guest that escalated to the point where the suspect produced a weapon and made threatening gestures with the weapon towards the victim.

The responding Timmins Police officers located and arrested the female suspect.

As a result, Briana Cabral, 27, of Timmins has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Three counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her

The victim did not sustain any physical injury during the occurrence.
