The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with a Criminal Code offence and a provincial statute offence stemming from an incident that occurred over the noon hour yesterday at a Brunette Road grocery store.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service regarding an unwanted person who was refusing to leave the premises when asked to do so.

Upon police arrival, the woman involved in the incident provided a false name to the police.

The woman’s actual identity was established and it was determined that she is currently wanted by the Timmins Police on the strength of an arrest warrant.

The woman was taken into police custody.

As a result of the incident, Joanne Wynne, 41, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Enter Premises When Entry Prohibited contrary to the Trespass to Property Act
  • Obstruct Police contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Wynne remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins, to answer to the charges laid against her.
