Woman charged after downtown law office break-in

Police also found a quantity of methamphetamines upon arrest

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local resident with break-in related offences stemming from an incident which occurred during the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 12 at a downtown law office located on Third Ave.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service where, earlier that morning, a female suspect had forcibly gained entry into the office building and made off with items unique to that law office.

The Timmins Police reviewed video surveillance of the event and were able to identify the suspect.

The woman was arrested and taken into custody by the Timmins Police Service later that same morning. Upon arrest, a quantity of methamphetamines was located on her person.

The office door and doorframe had sustained considerable damage as a result of the break-in.

As a result of the incident, Samantha Solomon, 36, of Timmins, has been charged with:  

  • Break and Enter with Intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act 
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning (May13th) at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
