Woman accused of 'erratic and disruptive behaviour' downtown

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident which occurred on Third Avenue during the afternoon hours of Saturday Aug. 29.

The Timmins Police Service responded to an incident where a 40-year-old woman was engaging in erratic and disruptive behaviour towards downtown patrons. At one point the woman uttered a verbal threat of violence towards another person.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers arrived on scene and located the suspect. The suspect was placed under arrest while continuing to yell out assorted profanities. As a result of the incident, Lynn Beland, 40, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Uttering threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was release from police custody at a bail hearing on the strength on an Undertaking compelling her to attend at provincial court in Timmins on Nov. 10 to address the charges laid against her.
