The Timmins Police Service arrested a local resident on the strength of an arrest warrant which was executed near the intersection of Algonquin Blvd and Spruce Street during the morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 6.

While completing patrols of the downtown core, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized a pedestrian as being a “wanted person” named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police.

The subject entered a vehicle as a passenger. The vehicle was stopped by the Timmins Police and the subject repeatedly and persistently provided a false name to the responding officer.

While awaiting confirmation of the validity of the warrant, the subject fled on foot but was apprehended and arrested by the Timmins Police Service approximately two blocks from the original scene.

As a result, Sarah Degrechie, 24, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant and has been charged with an additional count of:

  • Personation with intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to all charges, including the ones that led to the arrest warrant being issued.
