A convenience store clerk was assaulted in a violent robbery, says police.
On March 22, Timmins Police were called to a north-end convenience store just after 9 p.m.
A female suspect trying to leave the store with items she hadn't paid for was confronted by the store clerk, said police. The suspect brandished a weapon, assaulted the store clerk and left the scene.
The clerk called 911 and when police arrived on scene she was taken to Timmins and District Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
The suspect was located and arrested shortly after the incident. The weapon used has also been located.
Christina Tapas, 30, of Timmins is charged with:
- Robbery with violence
- Aggravated assault
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Failing to comply with a probation order
She remains in police custody and will appear in court at a later date.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
