KIRKLAND LAKE - On Nov. 14, 2020, at approximately 12:42 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kirkland Lake Detachment responded to a report of an assault on Kirkpatrick Street in the Town of Kirkland Lake.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 17-year-old with life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, two 16-year-olds from Kirkland Lake, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), have been charged with aggravated assault, contrary to section 268 of the Criminal Code.
The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake at a later date.
