Two face drug charges after cocaine seized in Cochrane

During the morning and afternoon of April 21, 2020, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police executed a warrant to enter a dwelling house and later executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Fifth Street in the Town of Cochrane.

Two persons were arrested and police seized suspected cocaine as well drug paraphernalia, all with a combined estimated street value of $5,000.

The OPP Community Street Crime Unit later determined that the controlled substance was in fact cocaine.

Mark Gray, 37 years old, of Cochrane, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance contrary to section 4(1) CDSA,
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Four counts of failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court contrary to section 145(5)(a) CC.

The accused person was held for bail is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, on April 27, 2020, to answer to the charges. 

Jaime Cyr, 31 years old, of Cochrane, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance contrary to section 4(1) CDSA, and
  • Two counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to section 733.1(1) CC.

The accused person is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, on June 9, 2020, to answer to the charges.
