KIRKLAND LAKE – On Sept. 18, 2020, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence on McKelvie Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake.
As a result of the investigation two people have been arrested and charged.
Jason Cloutier, age 34, and Ashley Lafrance, age 27, both of Kirkland Lake, have been charged with the following:
- Break, enter a place - commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
- Possession of break in instruments, contrary to section 351(1) of the CC,
- Mischief - destroys or damages property, contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the CC; and
- Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.
The accused were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on Oct. 15, 2020.
