The Timmins Police Service is issuing a traffic advisory in regards to a motor vehicle collision that occurred earlier this afternoon resulting in the closure of Municipal Road for the remainder of the evening.
A single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle equipped with a side-car remains under investigation by the Timmins Police – Traffic Services Section.
Original reports of the collision involving a second vehicle have proven to be unfounded as this is deemed to be a single vehicle collision.
Timmins Police, EMS and Timmins Fire Department personnel remain on scene at present. Traffic has been halted in both directions in order to allow for emergency personnel to complete their duties.
Detours are in place. Traffic traveling to Iroquois Falls will have to use Highway 101 to Highway 11 in order to complete reaching their destination as Municipal Road is now effectively closed to vehicular traffic.
The collision occurred on Municipal Road in the area of Finn Road.
Both persons riding the motorcycle died at the scene.
Next of kin notifications will be managed by the Timmins Police Service once positive identification of the victims has been determined.
