Two charged after break-in at strip mall: Timmins Police

Police say both suspects fled but were located and found to be in possession of recently stolen items

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man and a young offender with break and enter related offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the early morning hours of Monday, Dec. 28 at a local strip mall.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service where a retail store had been broken into and approximately $175.00 worth of merchandise had been taken. The retail store had sustained approximately $600 in damage resulting from a front door being forced open.

The responding Timmins Police officers followed the foot prints left by the suspects to a hidden location underneath the Mattagami River bridge.

The suspects were located and found to be in possession of the recently stolen items.

One of the suspects fled on foot but was arrested after a brief foot pursuit undertaken by the Timmins Police.

As a result of the incident, Kyle Archibald, 18, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He was released from police custody at a bail hearing but must re-attend at provincial court in Timmins on Jan. 11 to answer to the charges laid against him.

A male young person has also been charged with:

  • Break and enter contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The young person has been released from police custody on the strength of an undertaking requiring him to attend at provincial court in Timmins on Jan. 25 to answer to the charges laid against him.
