Two arrested on outstanding warrants: Timmins Police

The Timmins Police Service arrested a local resident on the strength of an arrest warrant which was executed near the intersection of Belanger Avenue and Rea Street South during the evening hours of Monday, Jan. 18.

While completing patrols of an assigned zone, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized a pedestrian as being a “wanted person” named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police. Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, Tiffany Wabano, 26, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant. She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at provincial court in Timmins to answer to charges that resulted in the Arrest Warrant being issued.

In a separate incident, the Timmins Police Service arrested a local resident on the strength of an arrest warrant which was executed on Pine Street North during the evening hours of Monday, Jan. 18. While completing patrols of an assigned zone, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized a pedestrian as being a “wanted person” named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police.

Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, Michael Laporte, 29, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant. He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to charges resulting in the arrest warrant being issued.
