TEMAGAMI - One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after the OPP responded to a commercial motor vehicle rollover near Temagami yesterday.
On Jan. 24 shortly before 4 p.m., the Temagami OPP Detachment responded to a single commercial motor vehicle accident on Highway 11.
Officers determined that the driver had consumed alcohol and so was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Temiskaming OPP Detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Deandrea Demont, 48, from Elk Lake, west of New Liskeard, is charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Dangerous operation
- Drive a vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
Demont was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on February 6. The accused was also issued a 3-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
