Trafficking charges laid in Kirkland Lake drug bust

KIRKLAND LAKE - Two men are facing trafficking charges after a drug bust.

On April 5, Kirkland Lake OPP executed a search warrant at two residences — one on Main Street and one on Premier Avenue West.

Police seized suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and Canadian cash

A 47-year-old man from Kirkland Lake is charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. 

A 44-year-old man from Kirkland Lake possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine.

Both of the accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on May 2. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
