Traffic stop leads to impaired charge in Cochrane

The 43-year-old also had their driver's licence suspended, and the vehicle was towed and impounded

COCHRANE – On Sept. 14, 2021, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Eighth Street in the Town of Cochrane.

Further investigation revealed that the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. As a result the driver was arrested, driver's licence suspended, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Trevor Gagnon, 43-years-old of New Post First Nation Taykwa Tagamou, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 5, 2021 in Cochrane.
