Traffic stop leads to execution of an arrest warrant

The wanted person was identified after officers observed a car not coming to a complete stop at an intersection

The Timmins Police Service arrested a local resident on the strength of an Arrest Warrant that was executed during the afternoon hours of Tuesday, Feb. 8 in Timmins.

In the course of completing general patrols, a Timmins Police Service officer observed a driver proceed through an intersection in the south end of the city without coming to a complete stop.

A traffic stop was initiated and it was discovered that the male driver was a wanted person named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police.

Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, Louis Gauthier, 47, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges that resulted in the arrest warrant being issued.
