Traffic complaint leads to impaired charges in Matheson

Police responded to a call about the 64-year-old Alberta driver on Feb. 10

MATHESON — On Feb. 10, 2022, at approximately 6:57 p.m., frontline members of the Matheson Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Highway 11 in Playfair Township.

Police located the vehicle and the investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

As a result, William Gee, 64 years of age, of Sherwood Park, Alberta, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on Mar. 31, 2022.
