Tractor-trailer driver charged with impaired

Police say the unit had slid off the shoulder of the road west of Kapuskasing

On Nov. 14, 2020, at approximately 5:15 p.m., officers from the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police observed a tractor-trailer unit on Highway 11, west of Kapuskasing, that had slid off the shoulder.  

Police investigation revealed that the driver was intoxicated by alcohol.

Adam Beck, 36-years-old, of Regina, Saskatchewan, has been charged with the following offences:  

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Operation while impaired - blood concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) CC.

The accused person is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing, on Dec. 22, 2020.

The driver was served with a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Police are asking the public to call the authorities if they see someone driving after having consumed intoxicating substances.
