Timmins woman, 25, accused of dangerous driving, fleeing police

Police say they responded to numerous reports of an erratic driver

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with driving related Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the afternoon hours of Saturday, Aug. 29 at various locations within the city.

The Timmins Police Service responded to numerous reports of an erratic driver operating a 2016 Chevrolet passenger vehicle in a manner that posed a safety concern to other motorists and pedestrians alike.

These incidents were reported to the Timmins Police in regards to the same vehicle and driver in the areas of Airport Road near Lafleur Drive followed by additional reports of the same vehicle being driven in an unsafe manner in the area of Moneta Street and Vipond Road.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers located the suspect vehicle and attempted to perform a traffic stop of the vehicle. The driver fled on Algonquin Blvd and in keeping with public safety concerns, the pursuit of the vehicle was discontinued by the Timmins Police The subject vehicle and driver were located at a Willow Street address.

The driver was identified and arrested and taken into custody. As a result of the incident, Sarah Rodrique, 25, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Flight from police contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was release from police custody at a bail hearing on the strength on an undertaking compelling her to attend at provincial court in Timmins on Nov. 10 to address the charges laid against her.
