Timmins resident accused of stealing a poppy box in Grenfell Township

Police have charged the 38-year-old with theft under $5,000

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Nov. 12, 2020, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft of a poppy donation box at a business located on Highway 11, in Grenfell Township.

As a result of the investigation, Rian McLean, age 38, of Timmins, has been charged with theft under $5,000, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice by video, on Nov. 20, 2020.
