Timmins parking lot disturbance leads to charges

Police allege the suspect also tried to resist arrest

A disturbance in a Timmins parking lot led to charges for a local man. 

Timmins Police officers patrolling yesterday evening (Sunday, Feb. 4), allege they came across a disturbance involving two adults in the parking lot of an Algonquin Boulevard business. 

"While addressing the altercation, the officer came to learn that one of the persons was in breach of strict conditions imposed by the courts," reads the news release. 

The suspect tried to resist being arrested, said police, but was eventually taken into custody. 

A 21-year-old man from Timmins is charged with: 

  • Resisting a peace officer 
  • Obstructing a peace officer 
  • Breach of recognizance 
  • Assaulting a peace officer causing bodily harm 
  • Failing to comply with a release order 

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing today. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
