Timmins man faces multiple charges after failing to stop for police

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, Jan. 20 in Schumacher.

A Timmins Police Service officer attempted to complete a traffic stop of a vehicle on Vipond Road.

The driver failed to stop, as legally required, for a considerable distance eventually parking in a residential driveway in Schumacher where he refused to exit the vehicle.

The subject was eventually removed from the vehicle and taken into custody by the Timmins Police Service.

A weapon was located on the subject’s person during the arrest.

Based on the outcome of the incident, Brandon Secord, 25, of Timmins, has been charged with:  

  • Flight from Police Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused person remains in police custody awaiting a Bail Hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
