Timmins man faces firearms charges

Police say the accused was prohibited from having a firearm

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a Criminal Code firearm offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Monday, Sept. 14 in Timmins.

The Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division have completed an investigation into an incident where a local man, who is prohibited from possessing any firearms, held out a firearm for sale to another person. 

Officers with the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigation Division sought and executed a search warrant yesterday at a Balsam Street South address where they located and seized the firearm in question.

Based on the outcome of the firearm investigation, Evan Beauline, 37, of Timmins, has been arrested and charged with: 

  • Careless storage of a firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Possession of a firearm for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused person remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.
