TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from a sequence of incidents that occurred during the late afternoon hours of Monday, Nov. 23.
[It is alleged that] a male subject had entered a convenience store located in the north end of the city at approximately 5 p.m. and engaged in an argument with a store customer. The subject became irate and damaged the store’s lottery advertising sign. The estimated value of the sign that was destroyed by this act is $300.
The suspect fled on foot but a detailed description was provided to the responding Timmins Police officers.
Prior to being located, [it is alleged that] this same subject attended at a Cedar Street homeless facility and entered into an assaultive altercation with staff members present.
The subject was positively identified, located, and arrested by responding Timmins Police officers.
As a result of the first incident, Shawn Nakogee, 25 of Timmins, has been charged with:
• Mischief under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
• Two counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Additionally, he is also charged with the following offences stemming from the second incident:
• Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
• Utter threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
• Three counts of fail to comply with undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
