Timmins man caught with suspected meth tablets following disturbance call

The 33-year-old faces possession, trafficking charges

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with drug related offences stemming from a disturbance in Schumacher that occurred during the noon hour of Sunday, May 10 at a Father Les Costello Drive address.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to a mischief complaint and located the subject of the complaint hiding in the box of a pickup truck in the vicinity of the original complaint.

The subject was arrested by the Timmins Police officer. A cursory search of the arrested person resulted in a quantity of methamphetamine tablets being located on the subject’s person.

As a result of the incident, Steven Longpre, 33, of Timmins has been charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Longpre remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins
