Timmins man accused of stealing neighbour's trailer

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the noon hour of Friday, July 9 at a Randall Street address in Timmins.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to the call for service on Friday regarding a subject who had [allegedly] attended at his neighbour’s residence on Randall Street and made off with the property owner’s trailer.

The rightful owner confronted the man a short distance from the scene and the suspect agreed to return the stolen trailer.

While returning the stolen trailer, [it is alleged that] the subject uttered threats to the rightful owner and then fled the scene on a dirt bike.

Based on the investigation into the incident, the responding Timmins Police officer located and confronted the male suspect and took him into custody.

As a result of the incident, Jeffrey Sabourin, 50 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    Theft under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Utter threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    two counts of fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Drive while under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
    •    Operate vehicle – no insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

Sabourin was released from police custody at a bail hearing but is compelled to re-attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on Aug. 4 to answer to the charges laid against him.
