Timmins man accused of choking assault victim

The Timmins Police Service has investigated a mid-afternoon disturbance that occurred yesterday (April 3) resulting in injury to a 62-year-old male person.

The Timmins Police Service responded to an occurrence where two male persons entered into a verbal argument at a Kimberly Avenue apartment unit.

[It is alleged that] the dispute escalated to the point where the 31-year-old male suspect held the 62-year-old male person in a choke hold to the point where the victim nearly lost consciousness.

The responding Timmins Police Service officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest the male suspect at the scene.

As a result, Justin Dunbar, 31 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    Aggravated assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.

The victim received medical attention for the injuries he sustained during the altercation.
