Timmins man accused of brandishing weapon at fire scene

The accused faces a number of weapons charges

The Timmins Police Service has investigated a disturbance that occurred yesterday evening (Jan. 26) in relation to a fire at a Kirby Avenue apartment building.

The Timmins Police Service responded to the occurrence where a fire had been discovered in one of the apartments and an altercation had taken place afterwards between two men.

The Timmins Fire Department responded and while completing fire suppression efforts, firefighters observed a man at the scene brandishing a weapon as he approached a second man.

Responding Timmins Police officers completed an investigation into the occurrence and, based on information provided, they were able to identify, locate, and arrest the male suspect.

A weapon was located on the suspect’s person in the course of the arrest. As a result, David Iserhoff, 29 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    Assault with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Carry a concealed weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
