The Timmins Police Service has investigated an early evening disturbance that occurred yesterday (Oct. 3) at a Wende Avenue residence.
Based on investigation, it was determined that a verbal dispute between two male parties escalated to the point where the one person produced a knife and proceeded toward the other person in a menacing manner.
The 37-year old male victim fled the residence fearing for his own safety.
The responding Timmins Police officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest the suspect a short while later at another location.
The suspect spat on one of the officers in the course of being arrested.
As a result, a 16 year old male person of Timmins, who cannot be named in keeping with statutory regulation, has been charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Assault a Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused remains in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
