Teen accused of assaulting 57-year-old man

Police say the suspect caused significant damage to fixtures, furniture inside the Wende Avenue residence

The Timmins Police Service has investigated a mid-morning disturbance that occurred yesterday (Feb. 17) resulting in injury to a 57-year-old male person.

The Timmins Police Service responded to the occurrence where a male young person entered into a verbal dispute with the 57-year-old man that escalated to the point where the suspect struck the victim.

The assaultive altercation took place at a Wende Avenue location where the suspect also caused significant damage to fixtures and furniture found within the residence. The suspect fled the location on foot prior to police arrival.

The Timmins Police were able to identify, locate, and arrest the male suspect early this morning.

As a result, a 15-year-old male person, who cannot be identified by statute, has been charged with:

  • Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Mischief to property contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at provincial court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.

The victim received medical attention for the injuries he sustained during the altercation.
