Suspicious vehicle call leads to impaired charge in Kapuskasing

On Dec. 18, 2021, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to suspicious motor vehicle on Wolfe Street in the Town of Kapuskasing.

Police located the vehicle and spoke to the driver of the motor vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the driver was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

As a result, the driver was arrested, driver's licence suspended, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Ryan Lalonde, 30-years-old of Kapuskasing, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation while impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Feb. 14, 2022, in Kapuskasing.
