Suspicious person call leads to charges in Kapuskasing

Police were advised that a person entered a residence claiming to be someone else, then left on foot

KAPUSKASING - On March 21, 2022 members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious person call on Byng Avenue, in the Town of Kapuskasing.

Police arrived on scene and were advised that a person had entered a residence claiming to be someone else, and had left on foot. Shortly after, OPP observed and made contact with the person of interest that matched the descriptions provided, running on Ash Street in Kapuskasing.

As a result of the investigation, Eric Lebrun, 36 years old of Kapuskasing, was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Trespassing at Night, contrary to section 177 of the CC
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order - Other than to Attend Court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 27, 2022, in Kapuskasing.
