Suspected opioids, meth, currency seized during arrest in Kirkland Lake

On March 25, 2020, members of the Ontario Provincial Police North East Region Community Street Crime Unit arrested a wanted person in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Further investigation revealed that the accused was in possession of drugs suspected to be opioids and methamphetamine. Canadian currency was also seized. Total estimated street value of the seizure is $2,600.

As a result, Michel Corriveau, age 39 of Cobalt, Ont., was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 - contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Fail to comply with probation order - contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.

The accused was released by way of an Undertaking and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, on June 4, 2020.
