Suspected methamphetamine seized in Kirkland Lake

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Feb. 5, 2021, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a person known to have a warrant for their arrest walking on Second Street in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

The accused was arrested and further investigation revealed that they were in possession of drugs suspected to be methamphetamine and were breaching a probation order.

As a result, Brooks Sampson, 25 years of age of Kirkland Lake, was charged with the following:
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
    •    Fail to comply with summons, contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
    •    Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear before The Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, on March 25, 2021.
